Two Masters

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

-Matthew 6:24

If you seek money, you will find it eventually. If you seek God, he will find you certainly.

The Eternal Cry

Below is an excerpt from a journal assignment for one of my philosophy courses. There's nothing really academic about it but I thought it was sort of cool...

"...To me, it is undeniable that the human soul cries out for eternity. I can all but deny our insatiable thirst for that which is infinite. And oh, how it cries back. Oh, how it pours itself out to quench us. For Inside every human, there beats a heart. And each heartbeat is wrought with electricity; that eternal energy burning in each star and each planet as they spin so intricately throughout the universe. As we delve deeper and deeper into the intricacies of the galaxy, as we peer deeper into space and time, I find we are surrounded by a primordial energy. Everything is alive. Everything is moving. There is something we have yet to see.

Still there are some who wish there be no eternity. Some who vehemently refuse there be something much greater than themselves. And though they deny me, they affirm their own desire for eternity. For they do not exercise unbelief, but rather they feel the stinging injustice caused by those who transgress the infinite. It is not faith they lack, but instead lack patience for those who live so haphazardly. They feel the disdain for those who so carelessly gloss over the divine chaos of the universe. Though they have yet to express these words, they too treasure that ancient energy. They too desire something more."
